Any other readers out there? I have been known to devour an entire book in one day, or less. Sadly, that was before I became a mother and other aspects of life got in the way.

As a result, I'm taking the leap and selling off my book-collection. You're probably envisioning rows of dusty books, similar to a used bookstore, and you couldn't be more wrong. I've always taken very good care of my books, and in fact some are brand new! There are a few that I bought used, and they show some wear, but all pages and fully intact and in great condition.

If you're in the market for some fun summer reading, I hope you'll go by and take a look. I've got some listed as low as $1!! If you purchase more than one, please let me know and I'll combine the shipping costs and refund you the difference. Also, I don't have international shipping listed, but if you're overseas and are interested, leave me a message and we'll work something out.

I'm following along with one of my favorite bloggers, Erin Cobb with a Ten on Tuesday post.

1. I have a couple new giveaways in the works, so stay tuned in the next couple weeks!!

2. When I mentioned that we were going out of town for Mother's Day, why did no one remind me that I actually don't like traveling?? And, traveling with a 1 year old is less than ideal, for sure.

3. Just this morning I was thinking about how nice it will be to have a week empty of activities. That's all it took for the lightning-bolt of Murphey's Law #7241 to strike. Now my calendar is brimming with stuff every.single.day.

4. Why yes, I am sitting here with a glass of wine. Shhhh...no one needs to know it's my third. Yeah, it's been that kind of day/week/month.

5. My sister is getting MARRIED this summer. My baby sister. The one solely responsible for making sure all of my Barbies and dollies sported mullets and pixie cuts. The one that started out as the bane of my existence and turned into my very best friend. I am SO happy for her. Well, I'd be a tad happier if I didn't have to be in the wedding. Of course, I'm absolutely willing to do it, but anyone who knows me also knows that I'm a "stand in the back and watch" kind of person, as opposed to "stand in the very front, where every single person is staring" kind of person. Lucky for me, she'll be a gorgeous bride so I won't really be noticed. ;-)

6. I have been hoping and praying and pinching pennies until they squirmed and I finally saved up enough to take the photography class I've been secretly dreaming about. Then, the hard part came - actually getting a spot in the class. It's a popular place to be, but I found out when the registration opened and set my alarm to ring 5 minutes before, so I could be poised at the keyboard, ready to go when the site was open. AND, I'm proud to announce - I AM IN! Woohoo!

7. I'm going to start working this weekend on our yard. I never realized how much harder it is to start from scratch, than to just pick up where the previous occupants left off. I need flowers. Need flowers. But...I have these thumbs...they're mostly brown (rather than the green thumbs I probably need). Wish me luck, I probably need it.

8. And I need to create some sort of dog run in the yard. I LOVE our dogs, but I need to be able to give them and my daughter a separate space to play in so I don't have to hover quite so much.

9. I have to drive 3 hours on Sunday, but I get to go dress shopping and have a fantastic lunch in the city with my sister. Fun fun fun!

10. This crazy, geeky part of me wants to get an iPhone. This may be a symptom of me losing my mind, as it would require me to change cell-companies and I live in an area where it might not even work. Yet, I still want one. Yep, crazy. Hopefully, by the time my current contract is up, they will have done a SUPER-improvement in their coverage area. Super. Super-duper.

It wasn't me...

Oh what a weekend we had. Let's say I spent mine wishing my head was buried under the covers in my bed. Instead, I was cooking, cleaning, laundering, folding...you get the idea. And, my favorite daughter (not just because she's my ONLY daughter), whom I love to the moon and back, gave me a cold. A really nasty cold. One of those I-can't-breathe, my-head-is-going-to-explode, how-much-pressure-can-an-eardrum-take kind of cold.

So, in honor of the wonderful day I've had (and by wonderful, I mean I actually got dressed and stayed awake the entire day), we're going to play a little Not Me Monday.

It was absolutely not me that just spent $30.00 this evening on ice cream. Thirty dollars. On ice cream. In my defense (or rather, the defense of that OTHER person that spent big bucks on ice cream), it's been a crummy day. A crummy week, really. The Schwan's man pulled into my driveway with his lovely yellow truck and I totally caved when he said he'd stocked up on Rocky Road. Typically, I don't like Rocky Road ice cream one bit, but there is just something about Schwans Rocky Road. As a matter of fact, I'm eating some right this very second. Uh...I mean that person that's not me is eating some. You know. Because this is Not Me Monday.

In other news, can you believe March is already half over?? Where has this month gone? Well, this year, really. When I was pregnant (seems like ages ago) I signed up to get these neat emails that tell you how the baby is developing. I was so excited to get each one. As it turns out, the emails continue after you deliver. It isn't quite the same to get an email that says "Your Baby is 15 Months Old", which is what today's message said. *sniffle* My baby is what??

Because today is the 15th, My Life and Scrap has just released their newest collaborative kit: March Pixel Edition.

Isn't it great? I just love the Easter-y colors. Some of those greens would work out perfect for St. Patty's Day layouts too, don't you think?

Five Question Friday!

1. What is the one thing your love does for you that you can't live without?

This one is a little tricky for me. I guess I'd have to say that he "gets" me. He knows there are certain things I like to take care of, and he doesn't mess with them. He also knows that I have a tendency to work myself to just-this-side-of-exhaustion and he does a pretty good job of stepping in to help. I also am just dazzled watching him with our daughter. She's only 1, but they have long conversations, play incredibly made-up games, sing goofy songs, and make hilarious faces at one another. Together, they are a riot.

2. When did you know your love was "the one"?

Sadly, he figured it out far earlier than I did. I repeatedly got burned in relationships, so when I met him I really made an effort to keep some distance between us. He, on the other hand, had other ideas. When we'd been dating for 3 months (heck, we'd only known each other 3 months), he mentioned in casual conversation that he was going to marry me someday. To say that I freaked would be putting it mildly. I honestly thought he'd had a mental break. Looking back now, I guess he was on to something as we've been together nearly 7 years.

3. Does your love have a special ringtone on your cell?

Not anymore. It used to be Marvin Gaye's "Lets Get It On" but he said it was embarrassing. Ha ha. Now, I just have one ringtone for everyone, and it changes, depending on my mood. Currently, it's "Pray for Me" by Sixx A.M. Don't read into that, I just like the song.

4. What are you attracted to most in your special someone?

Oh goodness, where do I start. His eyes are a gorgeous shade of blue and he has a pretty smile - those were the two that sucked me in. I also am an "arm girl", and find his arms, from shoulder to fingertip, beautiful. He also has a great laugh. When he laughs, he laughs hard and you can't help but laugh along with him.

5. Did you know when/where he/she was going to pop the big question?

Nope. I was absolutely clueless. He asked me to go for a walk around the park, where we'd walked hundreds of times before, but for some reason this time he wanted me to take my car over there (as opposed to walking from the house). For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why. Afterward, he said it was so I could get home quickly to get ready to go out and celebrate with a nice dinner. Yeah, he can be really thoughtful. Sometimes. :)

Playing Catch Up...

I realized that I've been awfully neglectful of my blog lately. I haven't shown off any of the new layouts I've done lately. Shame on me.

I used the brand new Cappuccino by Bubblescrap Designs. Just look at those gorgeous browns. Love it!

I've also been trying to participate in the Project 365/52 at My Life and Scrap. I do much better with 52 than I do with 365. It's easier for me to take a certain number of photos per week, rather than per day. They have a fun twist on it, too. Instead of just sending you out into the world with your camera in tow, Carolyn, the challenge leader, gives you a theme. You don't have to use it, but it gives you a great guideline if you're like me and need a little extra push.

Here is my layout from week 3 (yeah, I know...I'm already behind). The theme was Family.

It isn't that I don't have great ideas, all my own. I promise, I'm just bursting with wonderful things to blog about. But...sometimes I see discussions/questions/chats at other blogs and I just can't help myself, I have to play along.

Tonight, I'm following in the fan-tabulous footsteps of Brandi over at These are the Moments, who was taking a page from the lovely works of Mama M at My Little Life.

1. What are you most afraid of?

The easy answer: heights. I have a hard time even standing on a chair. The more difficult answer, I am afraid of my child (and/or future children) getting sick or dying. That makes my blood run cold. So, we'll stick with heights because I don't even want to think about the other.

2. Do you use a flat iron or curling iron?

On a day to day basis? Neither. I have wild and crazy, naturally curly hair that takes HOURS to tame with a curling iron or flat iron. I typically just spritz a little gel in it and let it do it's thing.

3. Hands-free or phone to the ear?

I really don't mind either one, nor do I have a preference. BUT...now that I have a small child that thinks she needs whatever you have, a hands-free device is nice because she can't really see it, and if she does, she doesn't realize it's part of a phone.

4. Do you have a matching bedroom set?

Yep. And I love it. The problem? I love wood with a dark finish and that just isn't a smart choice when you have a husband that breaks/scratches/nicks stuff without even trying, and a daughter that thinks the world is her playground. Woe is me. I promise it looked good when I bought it. Before I was married. Before I was a mother.

5. Do you believe in the paranormal?

Yes. Absolutely, yes. That's all. :)

Good Morning!

I'm enjoying a lazy day at home today. We've got a combination of snow and rain coming down outside, and I might mention it's coming down horizontally, so Avery and I are decked out in our comfy sweats and have no plans to go anywhere. Thank goodness. Now, tomorrow? That's a whole different story.

Can you believe it's almost February? Where did January go? I remember thinking "wow, it's almost 2010" what seemed like just moments ago. Sadly, I have a feeling that this is just going to continue, each year zipping by.

Speed Scrap, that is. I finished my third one in two days. Whew! What can I say.."my name is Stephanie, and I'm addicted to Speed Scraps". This final one was hosted by Michelle, and it was loads of fun. She always teases us with a theme, and this week we discussed all of her favorite foods. If you weren't able to make it, don't worry, she's going to be back at it again next Saturday at 2pm EST. Did I mention the fact that I was chosen to join the ranks over a Z Pink Boudoir Designs? With the chaos that is known around here as November and December...I don't think I told many people. That's not to say I'm not excited. I am SUPER excited. Zeee, the head honcho, is such a great girl and her designs are really stunning. I've been anxious to get started.

It's officially 2010...

Have you set any goals for yourself this year?

I, for one, am striving to keep my camera near me more (both at home and when we're out). It amazes me how often I see something really neat, or scary, or breathtaking - and of course, my camera is safely tucked away in it's case. At home.

Secondly, I want to push myself a little more in scrapping. I think we often take the "more pages, more pages, more pages" approach and don't stop to consider the quality of what we're doing. I want to create more of those pages that make others, and myself, stop and say "wow".

Third, my family learned the hard way in 2009 that your life can change in the blink of an eye. I hope to take a little more time each day to stop and notice the wonderful life that I have. Who cares if there is laundry to fold and dishes are piled to the ceiling? My family is beautiful and every moment I get to spend with them is priceless.

Let's see...number four is going to have to be to get outside my comfort zone a little more in the kitchen. I am such a foodie. I love watching the Food Network on tv, and I am subscribed to an embarrassing number of food blogs. In 2009, I did a pretty good job of trying new things and testing new recipes. I want to continue in 2010.

And number five. I'm going to say it. I hate saying it. I am going to try to get in better shape, physically. *cringe* I think it's a common goal across the planet, most people want to start eating better or exercising more, etc. We eat pretty great, but with an infant as my full-time companion, exercising has been pretty tough. Luckily, she's getting old enough now that we can go out with the stroller or go play at the park.

I think that's enough about me. What about you? What are you going to try to work hard (or harder) at in 2010?

This is a funny story, I just had to share.

Last Thursday, Christmas Eve, I temporarily lost my mind and decided to do some last minute shopping. The lines were atrocious, the people were rude, the sales people were severely overworked and I spent the whole time wishing I was home.

Because I didn't finish up until around 2pm, my stomach was beyond growling and was hollering for some sustenance. I pulled the car into the drive-thru lane of a local fast food restaurant. As I placed my order, I saw a car pull up behind me. A young woman (presumably the mother) and 4 small children were in there. Despite my exhaustion, I decided to do a nice thing for the young family. I pulled up to the window to pay, and asked the cashier to also give me the total for the car behind me. She got very suspicious, even when I told her I wanted to pay for their food, as well. I paid for us both, and she said "so, you know them?" I told her that I had never seen them before, but when they pulled up I asked her to please tell them I said Merry Christmas.

I got my food and left the restaurant, with a big smile on my face. I was feeling so Christmas-y and really couldn't wait to get home and tell my husband what a nice thing I'd done (hoping it would rub off on him). It wasn't until I was halfway home that I realized, I'd frazzled the cashier so much, she forgot to give me my drink!

Merry Christmas.

No good deed goes unpunished. :) I didn't mind too much.

Have you heard of the Daily December project by Ali Edwards? Basically, she keeps track of one thing that happened during each day of December. It can be something exciting, like decorating or writing a letter to Santa, or it can be something rather commonplace, like a nice dinner. She peppers her pages with cute elements and photos, which make for a really fun project. This year, I've decided to play along. My project ventures from hers slightly, in that my pages are 100% digital, and I'm (sort of) sticking with a color theme. So far. :) Of course, this could all change as the month goes on.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood....

Of course, not MY neighborhood, but I'm certain it's beautiful in SOMEONE's neighborhood.

You see, this morning I woke to discover that something connected to our sprinkler system (yes, I'm that techinical that I don't even know it's name) froze and broke last night. Oh, but that's not all. It seems, it froze and broke and created a stunning GUYSER that shot water waaaaay into the sky. Nope, that still isn't all. It seems that all this freezing and breaking and guyser-ing occurred in the late hours of last night or wee hours this morning resulting in a small lake outside our home. I'm not certain, but I think it's fair to say that the neighbors are not pleased that we turned their homes into lakefront-property without their permission. So...my lovely husband and I have been slogging through the ice and snow and mud most of the day and I'm finally inside for good, ready to thaw out.

Miraculous Weather!

Well..it's 3am and I'm awake. Again. I'm not so sure it's insomnia and not those darn puppies wanting to play in the middle of the night. Oh well, a couple more weeks and they'll be keeping their new families awake.

Since I was up, I figured I might as well be productive. Well...and there is nothing but infomercials on at this time of day. :)

We had a miraculous event here on Tuesday, SNOW. If you haven't heard, I grew up in the mountains but currently live in the desert. Saying that the change has been hard on me would be putting it mildly. I miss having real seasons, not just windy, hot, or windy AND hot. Don't get me wrong, the winters can be brutally cold, but with no snow, sleet or rain to show for it, it seems like a waste.

In order to commemorate this remarkable day, I decided to scrap the single, lonely photo I shot out of my dining room window at 6am that morning. I know, I know, I had great plans for more shots, but between my husband (high maintenance), my daughter (high maintenance), six puppies and two dogs (you guessed it, high maintenance)...I ran out of daylight before I ran out of ambition.

Anyway, I used the Polar Play kit by Dream Big Designs...isn't it fabulous? Just wait, there are some criminally cute polar bears and other items I have yet to subject you to...stay posted for future pages. Probably not SNOW pages, though. Consider yourself warned. :)

Does this time of year seem like a whirlwind of activity for anyone else? I cleaned the house top to bottom earlier this week, in time for Thanksgiving Day festivities, I've purchased nearly all of the necessary Christmas gifts, I have done mountains of laundry and rearranged our furniture to make room for the tree. I'm hoping this weekend to get the gifts wrapped and the decorations up. We'll see.

I can't speak for everyone, but I have so much to be thankful for this year. 2009 has certainly been a year of eye-opening circumstances and learn-the-hard-way experiences, but each of those trials and tribulations certainly made each of the treats that much sweeter.

Guess what, Ladies and Gents....

I'm hosting a SPEED SCRAP next week! If you haven't tried one, I highly recommend that you head over to My Life and Scrap on Monday and give it a shot. Speed scraps are a great deal of fun. Here's a rundown of the process: you are given one set of directions every 10 minutes for an hour (7 total). After the last direction is given, you have 1 hour to finish your page and upload it to the gallery at MLAS. After the deadline is over, I will check the gallery and everyone that participated gets a PRIZE! **And, I might add, the prize this time is FAB-U-LOUS!!!

The event itself is great, but it's also a hoot to chat with the other ladies in the chatroom or thread. Stop by Monday night and say "hi"!

Last night I managed to squeeze in some computer time and participate in a Speed Scrap, my favorite of ALL the challenges. It was tricky, lots of adjusting and measuring, but here is my final product:

What do you think? Aren't the photos incredible? Completely un-touched-up. Of course, I can't take full credit, my husband took most of them. We woke up Saturday morning to an incredibly loud noise. I can't even describe it, other than to say I thought something was going to crash into the house. I raced to the window and looked out in time to see these GORGEOUS balloons gliding right over our house! They touched down all around us, in the empty lots that surround the house, and then lifted back off, one by one. Amazing. Though, I never realized the "flame" was so LOUD!

I don't know about you, but I've been scrapping my tail off. Okay, not so much my tail, but maybe my fingertips. Much to my husband's dismay since he's been the lone ranger with our 11 month old daughter. :) On a lighter note, she learned the word "da-da" this weekend, so he doesn't mind quite as much. I haven't let him in on the fact that it was probably going to be her first word anyway, and she really doesn't have a clue to it's meaning. Let him have his moment. he he

Here is my entry for Jennifer's "Artsy" Speed Scrap last night at My Life and Scrap. It was great fun to "get outside the box" for a bit.

This one is my favorite of the pages I created this weekend. When my little peanut was small, listening to her daddy play music on his guitar was our "magic trick" to soothing her. Of course, being a music lover himself, he obliged her quite often. Now that she's a little older, she knows great things are going to happen when he pulls out his guitar.

I know, I know. Only one week in and I've already started with the extended absences. I have a very legitimate reason for being gone. I was exhausted. You see, I have a full time job that I do from home, I have a 10 month old daughter that takes after her daddy and is becoming more high maintenance by the second, and the aforementioned 10 month old's daddy. Not to mention a house to keep up with, 6 tiny puppies to care for, 2 grown dogs and a lizard to feed and clean after. Whew. I need a vacation.

Anyway, I'm back now and raring to go. You see, I have a lot of news and fun stuff to share with you!

First of all drumroll please.....I have been invited to join the Creative Team for Tirza's Treasures! Our designer, and guru, Linda is extremely talented and I can't wait to get going. She gave us a taste and I used the following kit, "Bashful" to create two fun pages.

On another exciting note, I finally got my lovely assistant (also known sometimes as reluctant husband) to take some pictures of the puppies for me! For those of you tuning in strictly for a little puppy-love, here you go:

What? What do you mean there are only five? Are you sure? Oh yes, that is because I saved my very favorite for last. There is a good chance this little guy may be making a permanent home here. He's got a special little spot in my heart. Just LOOK AT THAT FACE!

I have officially finished the VERY LAST CHALLENGE I can do for the month of October. I'm a little sad, but I'm sure J will be very pleased to hear it! Luckily, they start up again next week with all new challenges.

Here's my entry. Every year my parents surprise me with some present I'm not expecting for my birthday. This year was no exception. J and I took the baby for a walk and as we're heading back, we saw the UPS truck parked at our house. Since neither of us was expecting anything, we weren't sure what it could be. Imagine my delight to see a flower box propped up against the front door. They were absolutely gorgeous! I know, they die and are so temporary, but I just can't help it. I LOVE flowers.

It's Sunday....really?

Where did my weekend go? Do any of you just look around and wonder where the last 2 days went? I vaguely recall Friday, with it's multitude of tasks to be accomplished, but Saturday and Sunday are a blur. One of these days, I'm going to unplug all of the phones, lock the doors and pretend no one is home so I can just sit and relax from dawn to dusk. Who am I kidding, with my husband and baby, that will never happen. :) Oh well, one can dream, right?

I did, however, manage to spend a few minutes on MLAS while A. was napping this afternoon. It was glorious. I really treasure those quiet moments where I can immerse myself in photos and papers, playing in a challenge, or just challenging myself. I'm so lucky that J. likes to watch football on the weekends, so he doesn't mind if I'm glued to the computer. When football season is over, though, we may have to renegotiate.

Even when my body is exhausted, my eyes are bleary and my brain is fried....I just can't resist a scrapping challenge! Last night, I sat down to do the Scraplift Challenge at My Life and Scrap and before I knew it HOURS had passed. I was having so much fun playing with ribbons and sparkle, I completely lost track of time. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I have a pretty good looking subject to work with....

On another note, I've had some inquiries about the puppies lately and want to report that all 6 of them are doing great! They've nearly doubled in size and their eyes are almost open. I'll see if I can get my "lovely assistant" to take some new photos this weekend.

Not too shabby, I think. It isn't the greatest of photographs, taken with my cellphone of my daughter and her "best friend" holding hands at a local restaurant, but it was a pretty special moment.

Look what the stork brought us...

No, not that stork! This is a whole different stork.

Our two English Bulldogs, Emma and Elliot are the proud parents of SIX puppies! And I'm tired. Bulldogs are notoriously tough to own and breed because of their various medical issues and this proved to be the case this week. At about 10pm, Emma was clearly in labor. After about 15 minutes, I had the vet on the phone and she was concerned. J loaded Emma in the car for me and I took her in for an emergency c-section, while he stayed behind with the baby. Yes, that wasn't a typo, my dog had to have a c-section. Welcome to my life.

On a brighter note, didn't she have adorable pups? 4 boys and 2 girls. Speaking of which...anyone want a puppy?? They'd make great stocking stuffers, as they'll be ready just in time for Christmas...
